Dr. Faisal Ali

Principal

Dr. Ali received his Masters of Science in Educational Leadership and Policy from the School of Education at the University of Oregon, Eugene, USA in 2003, and his Educational Doctorate (Ed.D) in Educational Leadership and Policy from the School of Education at Durham University, UK in 2012. He has 17 years of teaching experience in British Columbia, Canada, where he taught all K-12 Grade levels. Dr. Ali also held a teaching certificate from the Teacher Regulations Branch, British Columbia, Canada. He has been the Principal of IQRA Islamic School since September 2007.


Br. Bassam Abun-Nadi

Operations Manager

Bassam joined Iqra at the start of 2016 as the Operations Manager. Prior to joining Iqra, Bassam worked for a Microsoft Education partner, focusing on the integration of education technology programs into academic institutions all over the world. He has trained teachers all over the world in the adoption of new curriculum and learning tools. Bassam graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2010 with a degree in Political Science, and is currently working on his Masters of Education at the University of British Columbia.

Ali Mihirig

School Board Chairperson

Dr. Mihirig is the Iqra School Board Chairperson. He recieved his Ph.D. & M.A.Sc Electrical Engineering, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada in 1987 and 1984. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia, Canada and is member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE).


Aminuddin Muhamad

School Board Secretary

Br. Amin is the School Board Secretary. He has been with the Board since 2002. He is currently an IT consultant with BC Biomedical Laboratories.


Dr. Khaled Ramadan

School Board Member

Dr. Ramadan received his medical degree in 1997 at Tripoli University, Libya and completed his training in internal medicine in Ireland where he obtained his certificates from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI) in 2000 and certificate of completion of General Professional Training (GPT) in Internal Medicine. He completed his hematology and hematopathology training in the UK with Membership of the Royal College of Pathologists of UK (MRCPath) granted in 2004. In 2008, he became a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of the UK (FRCPath). He then went on to do a clinical and research fellowship in lymphoma, leukemia and bone marrow transplant in Vancouver from August 2005 to December 2006. He joined the Division of Hematology at St. Paul’s Hospital in Dec 2006. He currently holds an appointment at UBC as a Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr. Ramadan is very dedicated to clinical research, and has 20 peer-reviewed publications in mainstream hematology/oncology journals. He has clinical and research interest in chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Dr. Ramadan completed courses and has certificates in Health Management, Health Education and Information Technology. He is the training supervisor for the undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and residents at St Paul’s Hospital, Division of Hematology. Dr. Ramadan serves on many hospital and UBC, Faculty of Medicine committees. He joined Iqra School Board of Directors in Nov 2012.


Gazali Ismail

School Board Member

Dr. Ismail is a retired MD. He joined Iqra School Board in 2001. Dr. Ismail is also a director of Al-Ameen a bi-weekly Islamic newspaper serving the Muslim community of BC.


Mohammed Sultan Badshah

VP School Board

Br. Sultan Badshah has been a member of the School Board since its first year of operations. He brings to the school expertise in the areas of Human Resource Management and Business operations. Previous to joining the Iqra School Board, Br. Sultan served a number of Islamic Associations and Muslim School Education Board as well. He currently serves as a Director of Education for both; Masjid Al-Noor (community mosque), and Dar-Al-Noor (providing Islamic Scholar Course for Girls) operating in Surrey, BC.
